NEW YEAR NEW YOU 2015

10155241_687068181350192_7134279644405946358_nALL IN is excited to announce its new challenge- NEW YEAR NEW YOU! This isn’t your typical New Year’s challenge. It is not about going Paleo for four weeks, and it is not about finding out who can lose the most body fat.

NEW YEAR NEW YOU is all about YOU and what YOU want to achieve over the course of four weeks. It is about setting goals for yourself and working towards those goals. It is about living a healthier lifestyle, inside and outside of the gym. It is about getting outside your comfort zone and trying new things.

Here’s how it works:

  • If you want to participate in the NEW YEAR NEW YOU challenge, then be sure to pick up a worksheet from one of our coaches. You will be responsible for your worksheet over the four week challenge so do NOT lose it! Please fill out your name, email address, and phone number on the worksheet.
  • Part One of the Challenge will be worth 25% of your total score. You will need to weigh-in and calculate your10246275_687067268016950_4865748755522192635_n body fat percentage at the gym by Thursday, 1/29. You will also need to complete the benchmark WOD on Thursday, 1/29, at the gym. Please enter your weight, body fat, and workout result on the worksheet. You will then write down a goal that you hope to achieve over the next four weeks. If it is to lose body weight, it is realistic to lose 1-2 pounds per week. If it is to lose body fat, which is what we recommend focusing on, it is realistic to lose 1-2% per month. If you are satisfied where you are, then you may set your goal to maintain your weight and/ or body fat. You may also set a goal to improve your benchmark WOD. Talk to a coach if you need help setting a goal.
  • Part Two of the Challenge will be worth 25% of your total score. You will need to set two goals to achieve over the next four weeks. First, set a goal for the gym. It could be to set a new PR on a lift, to move to a different band on pull-ups, to come to the gym 5 days per week, etc. Second, set a goal related to health and/or fitness outside the gym. It could be to eat Paleo, to eliminate sugar from your diet, to get 8 hours of sleep per night, to run a 5K. This is YOUR challenge so YOU set the goals! Talk to a coach if you need help setting goals. After you have set your goals, please have a coach initial your worksheet.
  • Part Three of the Challenge will be worth 50% of your total score. We have come up with a multitude of tasks10006945_712713545452322_1792594391998746608_n to challenge you to complete. For each one you complete, you will earn five points and then five additional points every time you repeat the task.*** There may be physical tasks such as complete a 5K row; health and wellness tasks such as drink only water for 5 days; and even tasks to inspire you to try new things such as attend a conditioning class. These tasks were specially designed to improve your health and fitness, as well as get you more involved at ALL IN. After four weeks, you will total up the points you earned and enter it on your worksheet.
  • After four weeks, you will need to weigh-in and calculate your body fat percentage again at the gym by Tuesday, 2/3. We will also be re-doing the benchmark WOD. You MUST turn in your completed worksheet by Wednesday, 2/4. Our panel of judges will carefully review the worksheets in order to name a male and female winner of the NEW YEAR NEW YOU challenge. The winners will not necessarily be the people who lost the most body fat or had the best benchmark WOD result. The winners will be those who showed the most commitment to reaching their goals and improving their health and fitness.
  • It goes without saying that the NEW YEAR NEW YOU challenge will be conducted under an honor code. Remember- this is just a fun challenge to help start your year off right!

***Get a head start on the challenge by attending our Nutrition Seminar this Sunday, 1/25, from 1-3 p.m. at the gym. Hunter Waldman of CrossFit Embrace in Dothan, AL, will be here to tell us what we should be eating and when we should be eating it. The cost is $10 per person, and attendance will earn you five points towards the NEW YEAR NEW YOU challenge. You do not have to participate in the challenge to attend.
